Adding to a growing number of RFID education courses in the US, Tagsys has teamed up with OTA Training to bring RFID training courses to the North-Eastern technology community, with students there also having the opportunity to earn additional CompTIA RFID+ certification.
With more and more companies seriously considering the deployment of RFID, it is vital that the pool of subject-educated and qualified professionals continues to grow. But, according to a recent survey by CompTIA, 75% of technology companies do not believe there is a sufficient pool of talent in the RFID market from which to hire the appropriate personnel. 116.30.145.87 This article is copyright 2006 UsingRFID.com.
Hands-on courses
Designed for RFID technicians, implementers, executives and employees from companies considering RFID as well as people looking to explore new job opportunities in the technology sector, the hands-on courses were designed to provide practical knowledge and experience for real-world RFID deployments.
OTA uses it''s Gold Key Methodology for the training courses, which highlights and reinforces key concepts throughout the curriculum, and uses only established RFID professionals who have actually implemented the technology as instructors.
Next course
The next training course, entitled A Systems Approach to RFID Implementation, will take place on 26th to 28th September 2006 at Tagsys'' global headquarters in Cambridge, MA. The three-day session aims to provide students with the necessary background to implement an RFID system, including knowledge of RF communication, RFID hardware functions, installation, connectivity, networking, automatic data collection technologies, and configuration of interrogators, antennas, printers/encoders, and RFID tags. Participants will also take part in comprehensive, hands-on exercises to gain a thorough knowledge of the most common tools currently used throughout the industry.
Students interested in the RFID+ certification will be able to stay for a few extra hours each day and participate in an extra day dedicated to exam preparation and testing. The four-day Certification Module, held in parallel with the training, is vendor-neutral, and is designed to test the student''s knowledge and skills in the areas of RFID installation, maintenance, repair, upkeep of hardware and software, and RFID product functionality. The RFID+ certification exam will be administered on the final day, and participants will receive their results on-site.
Using RFID''s training partnership
On a separate note, and providing nationwide opportunities for technology workers to gain RFID credentials, a recent partnership between Using RFID and American RFID Solutions (ARS) makes you (as a subscriber of ours) eligible for a 20% discount on Basic, Intermediate and Advanced RFID Instructor-Led Training facilities offered by American RFID Solutions.
Basic training
Those seeking a high-level, fundamental understanding of RFID are encouraged to register for the 1-day RFID Getting Started course. The course provides the opportunity to develop an executive-level understanding of RFID technology, applications, and components. The Getting Started course has been received enthusiastically by cross-functional teams that need to develop an "RFID game plan" for their organisation.
Intermediate training
Those who want an intermediate level of understanding of RFID technology can register for the 3-day RFID Top Gun course instead.
