The RFID technology provider Integrated Engineering has launched its first multi-technology desktop e-Document reader that covers nearly all ISO 14443 A and B standard contactless chips.
After the introduction of the new module, the firm also developed a desktop version of its e-Document reader using a USB PCSC/CCID interface and a ready-to-use housing. Because of the integrated ID3 antenna within the desktop reader, it enables the use of ID1 (credit card size) up to ID3 (passport size) documents and cards, where the position of the antenna may vary or may not be known. 116.30.147.133 This article is copyright 2004 UsingRFID.com.
"The success of the e-document reader comes from the flexibility it offers," commented Jan-Peter Hulsker, CEO for Integrated Engineering. "We have seen the new chip generation coming for a few years, and we have invested in the technology." In most cases the company acts as a technology partner for its clients.
The module is independent of the card operating system itself, and can be implemented with an integrated antenna or customer-specified antennae. Through the optimisation of data handling, the company claims that its modules are - in most cases - within 50% of the specified read/write requirements of the ICAO.
Integrated Engineering provides contactless smart card solutions and support for clients around the world, and has offices in the Netherlands (the company''s head office), Asia Pacific, and the USA. The company primarily develops and markets products and solutions in the fields of security, public transport, and retail.
