Alien Technology Corp. said Monday it has opened a 48,000-square-foot manufacturing center in Fargo, N.D.

     Alien said the facility can make up to 2 billion RFID tags per year, and will be able to make 10 billion tags per year in the future when fully equipped.

     After the chips are processed in Fargo, they are shipped in solution to Alien''s Morgan Hill facilities to be packaged into "straps."
